There is less than two weeks to go until our Natural Black Woman campaign is launched on July 18. As a quick reminder Natural Black Woman is a celebration of natural afro textured hair and and an acknowledgement of the movement of women in the UK and beyond who have resolved to resist the Europeanisation of African hair, shunning relaxers, perms and hair extensions to reveal the beauty and versatility of black hair!
If you are on a mission to grow your natural hair, one book that is a must read is Grow It, by Chicoro. A review by People with Voices editor Deborah Gabriel will be featured in our campaign. Grow It, explains in six easy steps how to attain glorious, healthy, afro textured hair.
To be in with a chance of winning a copy of Grow It by Chicoro (pictured left) simply ‘LIKE’ the People with Voices Facebook Page. A winner will be randomly selected and notified on Friday July 22.
We welcome personal hair journey stories which can be submitted to this campaign. You don't have to be a professional writer – what we are looking for is an honest, moving or humorous account of how you have fared on your journey so far; with examples of the highs and lows!
Your hair journey story should be betwwen 300- 500 words, your own work and not previously published. Ideally we would like a photo of you – full size, at least 1000 pixels in width, to go with your story! You can submit your story on this website.
Alternatively you can email your story in Word format along with your photo to editor@peoplewithvoices.com.
Congratulations to Monica Rene who won the compeition!
